CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is body-shaping without surgery or downtown. CoolSculpting is a non-invasive, non-surgical, FDA-cleared, fat-freezing procedure, using controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat from problem areas of your body.

This fat-reduction treatment has proven noticeable results that are long-lasting, giving you the reformed body shape you desire.

CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to treat fat bulges in the submental (double chin) area, thigh, abdomen, and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (banana roll), and upper arms.

Since it is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure, there is no need for needles or anesthesia. Downtime is also minimal, and patient satisfaction is high.

How CoolSculpting Works

CoolSculpting’s controlled cooling technology allows for treatments to be applied safely, precisely, gently, and effectively.

During treatment:

  • Fat cells are targeted underneath the skin without affecting the skin itself.

After treatment:

  • Treated fat cells crystallize (freeze) and die off, leaving the body through the body’s natural elimination process.

Results:

  • Patients may start to see changes as quickly as 4 weeks after treatment and experience more dramatic results within 2 months after treatment.
  • Results are long-term, and the treated fat cells are gone for good.
Treated fat cells are gone for good, and you end up with a more sculpted you!

Coolsculpting Consultation

During your consultation, you will meet with the clinician to discuss your body-shaping goals, view your body from different angles, and assess where you most want to eliminate fat. Usually, 25 percent of the fat treated is eliminated.

Your clinician will then develop a treatment plan tailored to meet your specific body-shaping goals. Your plan will specify the number of treatments you will need, and it will indicate if you need one or more applicators to help you achieve your desired results.

Since everyone’s body is different, no two treatment plans are alike, but rather they are very personalized.

CoolSculpting Treatment

On treatment day, the clinician will take you into a treatment room and have you lay down on the treatment table. A gel pad and CoolSculpting applicator are securely positioned to the treatment area, and controlled cooling is delivered to the targeted fat. The procedure may take 30 to 60 minutes–it all depends on the area being treated. While you wait, you may read or take a nap.

How CoolSculpting Feels

There are no needles used for the CoolSculpting procedure. You may feel intense cold during your treatment at first, but that feeling usually subsides within 5 to 10 minutes as the area numbs. After that, you may feel some pulling, tugging, and/or mild pinching as the applicator draws the fatty tissue into the applicator cup, much like the suction from a vacuum.

CoolSculpting FAQs

  • Is CoolSculpting Safe?

CoolSculpting is a safe procedure. The equipment itself, the CoolSculpting controlled cooling device, is designed with built-in safety measures. If the sensors detect that the skin is getting too cold, the system will turn off automatically.

Our clinicians also undergo in-depth training and certification to ensure your safety. Treatments are performed in a medical office under the supervision of a licensed professional to guarantee the highest standards of care.

  • Is there any downtime after CoolSculpting treatment?

There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting. Many patients return to work or other normal, daily activities within the same day.

  • Are you a candidate for the CoolSculpting procedure?

The CoolSculpting fat-reduction procedure works for both men and women who are within 30 pounds of their ideal weight but have excess areas of fat. If you are looking for a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, CoolSculpting may be right for you to reach your body-shaping goals. Note that this procedure is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese.

  • How long is each CoolSculpting treatment?

CoolSculpting treatment can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. The treatment time often depends on the area to be treated and whether you have more than one area being treated in a single office visit.

  • How many CoolSculpting treatments will you need?

The number of treatments you will need depends on the number of areas you want treated to reach your body-shaping goals. Some patients may opt to have more than one area treated during a single office visit because they have a specific time frame in mind to meet their goals (e.g., upcoming wedding). If that is the case, you and your provider may schedule additional treatments or office visits to meet your goals.

  • Can CoolSculpting be done to treat a double chin?

The CoolSculpting procedure can be used to treat fat bulges under the chin and to contour the neck. Patients usually see results after 1 or 2 treatments.

  • Are CoolSculpting results permanent?

CoolSculpting treatments produce permanent results. Treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), die, and are eliminated from the body for good.

  • Who should not have the CoolSculpting procedure?

The CoolSculpting procedure is not indicated for people who suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. It is also not a treatment for obesity. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting fat-reduction is right for you.

  • Are there any side effects of CoolSculpting treatment?

After treatment, you may feel some tingling as the area is massaged for 2 or 3 minutes. Other side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity. For patients who have the submental area treated, they may feel a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat. These effects are temporary and will subside within a few days or weeks. As with any medical procedure, ask your physician if CoolSculpting fat-reduction is right for you.

  • Are there any follow-up appointments after a CoolSculpting procedure?

Yes, your clinician will schedule a follow-up appointment for you after your CoolSculpting procedure(s) to discuss your results. At this time, you can also discuss options for any additional treatments you may desire.

  • When will you see results from CoolSculpting treatment?

Typically, patients start to see changes within 3 weeks after treatment and see more dramatic results within 2 months. Actually, your body will continue to flush out fat cells up to 4 to 6 months after treatment.

  • Do you need to take special supplements or follow a strict diet and exercise program after CoolSculpting treatment?

You will not need to take any special supplements after your CoolSculpting treatment(s). CoolSculpting is not a diet or exercise program. It is a fat-reduction procedure.

  • What happens if you gain weight after your CoolSculpting procedure?

After receiving CoolSculpting treatment(s), many patients feel even more motivated to stay close to their ideal weight. If you gain weight after your CoolSculpting procedure, you may gain it evenly all over your body and not just in the treated areas.
