At Home Skin Remedies This Winter

We all know that winter weather can wreak havoc on your skin. The dry air makes skin easily susceptible to chapping within minutes of being outdoors, but no one wants to spend the entire winter indoors because of their skin. Here are some home remedies that you can test this winter season so that your skin does not dry out or become damaged due to the weather.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a great way to provide your skin with natural moisture while simultaneously preventing the loss of moisture. It will also make your skin softer. Simply take some virgin coconut oil and apply it to the affected area, making sure to rub the oil into your skin until it is absorbed. You should not wash the oil off your face, but instead, apply it prior to bed and sleep with it rubbed into your skin overnight.

Lemon and Honey Mix

A lemon and honey mix can work wonders for winter skin. If you suffer from itchy, irritated skin during the winter, the honey will provide anti-inflammatory agents to soothe the affected areas. The lemon contains Vitamin C, which is very healthy for the skin. Simply squeeze the juice from half of a lemon into some honey and apply the mix to the affected areas using a cotton ball.

Sunflower Oil

A few drops of sunflower oil applied to the affected areas of your skin prior to bed each night could easily solve your irritation problems. Apply the oil in a gentle manner to your skin until it is absorbed. Do not wash the oil off your skin. Sunflower oil helps to keep the skin hydrated because it can retain moisture.

Honey and Raw Milk

A combination of honey and raw milk helps in two areas. The honey helps to keep your skin moisturized, while the milk can remove dry and flaky skin. Simply mix the milk and the honey and then apply it to the affected areas of your skin using a cotton ball. Let the mixture dry for ten minutes and then wash it with water. Be sure not to use this home skin remedy if you are allergic to milk or any type of dairy product.

Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly has long been an at-home remedy for skin care, especially during the winter season. Petroleum jelly can be used to heal cracked, dry, and itchy skin. It is an affordable remedy that should only be used if you are not prone to breakouts. All you need to do is apply it to the affected areas of your body until it is absorbed by the skin.

Glycerine

Glycerine can be found in pharmacies and grocery stores at an affordable price. You should wash your face and pat it dry, but make sure to leave it damp. Use a cotton ball to apply the glycerine on the face, making sure to avoid the lips and eyes. You can leave the glycerine on your face instead of washing it off.
